Strategies for improving English language skills Freelancer For Beginners

Learn English

When we listen to a song day after day, naturally a few lines of it subconsciously get stuck in our heads. Although the song is in a foreign language. The same is true of learning English or any other language. The more you 'listen' (listen), 'read' (read), 'watch' (observe or repeat), and practice, the more your skills will improve.

How do children learn language?

Before we learn how to learn English, let's take a look at how we learned our language as children.

1. Immediate observation and repetition: Copying words spoken by adults is one of the techniques used by children in language learning. It starts with a syllable word first. Such as no, de, kha etc. Then two — eat, dad, go. Then the children compose short sentences.

But we can also learn English using language learning techniques (First Language Acquisition Theory). But in that case the strategy will have to change a little.

2. Hearing: Children constantly hear a lot of sounds in their subconscious mind, which gradually take up space in their brain. After a while he may say some words and sentences without knowing it.

3. Real Life Experience: In English language learning we often use one word: Schemata, meaning previous experience stored in the brain (this applies to everyone, young and old). Children learn by watching the movements of adults or by using something regularly. Like you're sitting in a chair. Using a word for sitting, again using a word for where you are sitting. The child notices these things. He can say it later. The things he can say on his own are part of his schema.

Four strategies

1. First, you need to read and listen a lot. At the beginning you can read the children's version of the English story (if you think your skills are still in the early stages). Gradually start reading short stories, English magazines and novels. Practice listening to English through cartoons, movies, songs, etc. It doesn't matter how much you understand. You have to listen, and you have to get in the habit of reading. It will not bring immediate results, but if you do it month after month, you will realize for yourself, your English comprehension and speaking skills are increasing. If you listen and say a lot, you will be able to write well. However, in order to acquire speaking skills, you need to continue the practice of talking to someone.

Many people do not see English pictures because they do not understand English. But English pictures will help you to learn the language. Watch the same movie twice. First with subtitles, then without subtitles. Your first experience will be useful to understand the subject matter and dialogue of the movie while watching it for the second time.

2. You can read good quality books on English language. But not a conventional grammar book. Learn English in glamorous language of advertisements, such as shotgun course, magic book, 20 days-21 days, stay 100 hands away from these. So what is the way to recognize a good book? You will see that the book is written for some kind of students (as written in many books: Language Level — Beginner or Intermediate).

An excellent book is Essential Grammar in Use by Raymond Murphy. This book is very useful in overcoming the weakness of English grammar. Written entirely in English. Instead of rushing into it, keep doing the exercises given in the book.

3. You are cautious but can't tell. One of the reasons is that you are reluctant to speak English due to lack of practice. You need to practice English. In this case, one has to take precautions. There is no miracle method or news that will tell you not to speak, which will teach you 'speaking'.

4. You will never learn English very well without the habit of reading English magazines and other books. But just read the English magazine, you can speak fairly well in many countries, but you can't find the words in your case. In this case, the news reading habit can see you. Better a poor horse than no horse at all.
